Connecting your LinkedIn account to LeadContacter is a simple process that takes just a few minutes. This guide walks you through the connection process and best practices for keeping your account safe.
Before You Connect
Before connecting your LinkedIn account, ensure:
- Your LinkedIn profile is complete and professional
- You have a LinkedIn Premium or Sales Navigator subscription (recommended but not required)
- Your account is in good standing with no restrictions
- You're using Google Chrome browser
How It Works
LeadContacter uses a browser extension that runs directly in your Chrome browser. When the extension is active and you're logged into LinkedIn, it executes actions on your behalf - just like you would manually, but automated.
This approach is safer than cloud-based alternatives because actions come from your actual browser session. You maintain full control, and you can pause or stop the extension at any time.
Step 1: Enable LinkedIn Integration
First, enable the LinkedIn integration in your LeadContacter settings:
- Go to Settings in your LeadContacter dashboard
- Find the LinkedIn Integration section
- Click Enable LinkedIn Automation
LinkedIn automation is included free with all paid plans.
Step 2: Install the Chrome Extension
After enabling the integration, install the browser extension:
- Click Add Account in the LinkedIn settings section
- Click the Download from Chrome Web Store button
- On the Chrome Web Store page, click Add to Chrome
- Confirm the installation when prompted
The extension icon will appear in your Chrome toolbar once installed.
Step 3: Connect Your Account
With the extension installed:
- Make sure you're logged into LinkedIn in your browser
- Click the LeadContacter extension icon in your toolbar
- Follow the on-screen setup wizard
- Your LinkedIn account will appear in the Settings page once connected
You can verify the connection by checking the LinkedIn section in Settings - your account should show as "Active".
Important: Keep Chrome Running
The extension only executes LinkedIn actions while Chrome is open and running. For best results:
- Keep Chrome open during your working hours
- Don't close the browser while campaigns are active
- The extension respects your configured sending hours
- You can pause campaigns anytime from the dashboard
Best Practices
To keep your account safe:
- Start with low daily limits (15-20 actions) and gradually increase
- Use realistic working hours for your timezone
- Keep your messages personalized and relevant
- Monitor your account for any LinkedIn warnings
- If you receive a warning, pause campaigns immediately
